Passenger shelters for the capital
Lacock Gullam has been working closely with Adshel/Clear Channel for many years on a variety of projects. Close collaboration with Adshel and Transport for London has led to the development of several London bus shelter concepts.
Voyager is a new shelter designed for Adshel/Clear Channel as part of their winning bid to Transport for London to supply and maintain shelters across the capital.
The Voyager shelter was selected by TfL as their preferred option for development. A number of the Voyager's innovative features informed the brief for a further competition run by TfL and Design for London for which Lacock Gullam were shortlisted. A second design by Lacock Gullam, Landmark London, is now in development by TfL.
All concepts developed are viable for employment across TfL’s 11,000 bus shelter sites throughout the city centre and suburbs. The designs combine aesthetic sensitivity and economic viability whilst harnessing innovative solutions to satisfy the user’s desire for shelter and information.
The Voyager shelter was developed as a modular system and is capable of a wide range of configurations including the new courtesy shelter that is only one advertising bay wide.
The shelter was designed to integrate solar powered lighting and future technologies including CCTV, audio and WiFi systems. The design also fully integrates TfL's increasing need for the delivery of information to the travelling public.
